With ice projected in the forecast, weekend revelers who are looking to spread holiday cheer could be in for a slippery drive.

Remain vigilant Saturday, as ice is supposed to accumulate in Central, Pennsylvania. Even if you’re running out the door for a quick trip to the store, or to check another person’s name off your Christmas list, a system moving into the area is anticipated to bring another wintry mess.

According to FOX43 Weather, well-established cold air, and accumulating light snow is likely before the transition to a wintry mix near daybreak Saturday. A transition to rain takes place for most by midday, but locations to the northwest of Harrisburg could see some more icing. A coating to a couple inches are possible for most, with the higher 1 to 2 inch amounts possible along the northern half of the region. Some spots to the far north and northwest could see an additional inch. All of this depends on how quickly the mixing arrives.

Most locations see at least a spotty light glaze to 0.1” of icing, with up to 0.25” ice possible to the west and north of Harrisburg. Some spots to the far northwest could see a touch more if the transition to rain is slower. Rain showers continue at times Saturday night into Sunday with readings in the 40s.
