WEST MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A motor coach facility in York County is doing its part to help flood victims in Texas.
Bailey Coach sent three of its hurricane relief buses to the state. As the president of the company explains, the buses will be able to get people in Texas to safety.
"We're going to provide emergency transportation for the local people down there that probably just lost everything," said John Bailey, president of Bailey Coach. "This is going to give us the opportunity to at least give a small portion of York County to try to help those people."
Bailey Coach was also able to collect 50,000-60,000 pounds of non perishable foods and clothing from people and businesses in Central Pennsylvania before the departure.
In a Facebook post following the departure of the buses, Bailey Coach announced they would be collecting more supplies over the next two weeks to send to Texas. They will be accepting donations ONLY at their York bus terminal, located at 55 South Fayette Street, noting in the post that they are unable to pick up donations from other locations.
Donations will be accepted from 7am to 2pm, Tuesday August 29th to Friday Sepetmeber 1st, and again from 7am to 2pm, Tuesday September 5th to Thursday September 7th. They are unable to accept donations Saturday September 2nd to Monday September 4th due to a lack of staff at the drop-off location. They request that people do not leave any donations outside their buildings, because they don't want any donations to be stolen.
Here is a list of items they have suggested be donated;
- diapers (size newborn to 5)
- baby wipes
- baby formula (brand new, unopened and not expired)
- cribs/pack n' plays
- kid's clothes/shoes
- kid's toys including coloring books & crayons
- tampons
- maxi pads
- deodorant (men's & women's)
- toothbrushes
- toothpaste
- mouthwash
- shampoo
- conditioner
- bars of soap
- washcloths
- hairbrushes/combs
- pet food (dog & cat)
- blankets
- towels
- kitty litter
All donations will be brought to the American Red Cross disaster relief center in San Antonio Texas, and the tractor trailer will be leaving Friday September 8th, in the morning. Bailey Coach asks in their Facebook post that any donations dropped off be in boxes, trash bags, or other secure containers, so that they can be easily loaded into the truck.
