Western Pa. tractor-trailer catches fire, spills bananas on Turnpike

According to the Youngwood Volunteer Fire Department, the tractor-trailer was hauling pallets of bananas when it caught fire.

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — Crews with the Youngwood Volunteer Fire Department in Westmoreland County were called to the New Stanton Service Plaza on the Pa. Turnpike around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday to assist a tractor-trailer fire.

Upon arrival, fire officials had to enlist the help of a local emergency roadside service to assist with dismantling the trailer, due to the tractor-trailer hauling, and then spilling, pallets of bananas.

The fire department confirmed that there were no injuries related to the fire, and crews were able to clear the scene at around midnight.
