A tractor-trailer fire has shut down a portion of I-81 in Cumberland County.
It happened around 6:15 a.m. Thursday in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 between EXIT 37: Newville and Exit 29: King Street in Penn Township.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was able to pull into the right shoulder before the rig became engulfed in flames, according to PennDOT spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler. The driver was able to escape to safety, Schreffler said.
It's unclear what the tractor-trailer was hauling or if any other vehicles were involved.
I-81 south is currently closed in that area.
