York County's new history center welcomes in the public

Nearly a decade in the making, the York County History Center is now open to the public.

YORK, Pa. — The York County History Center is opening to the public Friday at 10 a.m., after an almost decade-long project.

It's a museum meant to tell the wide range of stories that made York County what it is today.

The Center is celebrating its grand opening through a three-day event offering free admission, discounted memberships, and all sorts of other festivities.

Here's a look at what's happening throughout the weekend:

First Friday: Aug. 2

  • Free Admission
  • Open Extended Hours:  10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • First Friday entertainment with pianist Michael Gilliland
  • Book signing with Jim McClure

Saturday: Aug. 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
